BUENA PARK : 2 Unsafe Properties Face Demolition
The City Council last week initiated demolition proceedings against two residential properties on Western Avenue that do not meet minimum health and safety requirements.
Director of Developmental Services Thomas Lynch reported that building officials had spent several months trying to get the owners at 6445 and 6465 Western Ave. to bring the structures up to code.
The duplex and single-family home have been cited for several violations of the Uniform Building Code, including gas leaks, holes in exterior siding and garages, broken glass and illegal lighting.
The action approved last week requires the property owners to either correct the violations or demolish the buildings.
A public hearing on the matter will be held later this year before the action is final.
