College District Trustee Returns After 16 Years

If longtime veterans of the Los Angeles Community College District were experiencing a little deja vu on Wednesday, it would have been understandable.

The newest member of the nine-campus district’s Board of Trustees, Kenneth S. Washington, returned to the board 16 years after leaving the elected post to become president of San Francisco City College. Washington, who later returned to the 110,000-student district as vice chancellor and retired in 1986, won a board seat again last spring.

He was sworn in along with Trustees Wallace B. Knox, David Lopez-Lee and Julia Li Wu, all of whom were elected to second terms on the seven-member board. Wu was elected as president and Knox as vice president.
