Nichols Third in Junior Diving Championships
Jeff Nichols of Laguna Hills finished third Friday in the boys’ 14-15-year-old division of the platform diving competition at the Speedo/U.S. Diving Junior Olympic Championships in Clayton, Mo.
Bryan Gillooly of Kissimmee, Fla., won the competition with a score of 398.15.
Nichols had 299.15 and Tyce Routsen of El Toro was fifth with 296.60.
In the boys’ 16-18 three-meter diving, Nate Smith of Laguna Niguel was sixth with 452.60 and Jason Hubbart of Mission Viejo was 15th at 409.05. P.J. Bogart of Mesa, Ariz., won the event with a score of 510.85.
Nichols, Routsen, Smith and Hubbart are members of the Mission Viejo Nadadores.
