The public organization charged with overseeing major construction projects for the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta elected George Berry, the former state tourism chief, as its chairman. Berry, former commissioner of the Department of Industry, Trade and Tourism, was chosen to head the 12-member Metropolitan Atlanta Olympic Games Authority.
