Mission Viejo to Seek Names for New Park
MISSION VIEJO — A public meeting to gather opinions on a name for a 10-acre neighborhood park will be held at City Hall Aug. 15 at 7 p.m.
Now known as the North Open Space area, the park is at the corner of Pinecrest and Santa Margarita Parkway.
“We need to have names for our parks,” said Kelley Doyle, the city’s parks and recreation director. “North Open Space isn’t very catchy. . . . Therefore we thought it would be appropriate to give it a name.”
The city plans to install turf and playground facilities in the southern portion of the park. The northern half will feature a short walking trail.
Doyle said that most park names in the city relate to the location of a nearby development or street.
