PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : RAIDERS : Beuerlein’s Status Remains Unclear
Quarterback Steve Beuerlein won the statistical battle to be the Raiders’ No. 2 quarterback, but he doesn’t appear to be a lock for the job come Monday, when final rosters are determined.
Beuerlein didn’t play in Friday’s final exhibition against the San Diego Chargers and has been running third-team all summer behind Vince Evans, leading to more trade speculation.
The Dallas Cowboys, who almost landed Beuerlein in an off-season trade, are reportedly interested again, and the Phoenix Cardinals need to replace starter Timm Rosenbach, who said Saturday that he will undergo knee surgery and sit out the season.
