It Is Fundamentally Wrong for Strawberry to Criticize Teammates
The only thing trying my patience these days more than the play of the Dodgers is the writing of Bill Plaschke. His cheap shot at Juan Samuel last Saturday (Aug. 24) was vicious and uncalled for. If he is going to chop up Samuel, then he surely must have equally as harsh articles in the works on the mediocre play--all year--of Kal Daniels, Eddie Murray, Bobby Ojeda, etc.
However, I suspect Samuel’s real sin is not having a weak second half. His mistake is not talking to reporters, a fact that Plaschke reminds us of two or three times a week. For his refusal to talk to Plaschke, Samuel is being unfairly singled out.
