North Torrance Steals Victory from San Clemente
TORRANCE — The North Torrance High School football team gained 350 first-half yards in building a 20-6 lead, and with the help of seven turnovers, held on to beat visiting San Clemente, 39-22, Friday night at North Torrance High.
San Clemente, held to 40 yards and two first downs in the first half, finally got the offense moving in the third quarter behind quarterback Morgan Bannister.
Bannister finished the game nine of 36 for 175 yards and threw two touchdowns, a 33-yarder to Eric Del Conte and an 18-yarder to Rich Fejerang.
But Bannister, who also rushed for 86 yards, was intercepted four times, two of which led to Saxons’ scores. San Clemente’s other touchdown was a 60-yard fumble return by John Pierson in the first half.
