The Orlando Magic of the NBA was purchased by billionaire Rich DeVos, who paid a reported $85 million to a Florida group headed by William duPont III.
DeVos, co-founder and president of Amway Corp., said the acquisition was a family effort involving his wife, three sons and a son-in-law.
The expansion franchise, purchased for $32.5 million in April of 1987, will be operated by his oldest son, Dick DeVos, 35, who said there will be few changes.
