Discounts on Hong Kong Shopping
If you are planning to stay at least four nights in Hong Kong, you’re entitled to a “Hong Kong a la Carte” booklet, with discounts at 68 establishments that include shopping, dining, entertainment and sightseeing tours. Discounts range from 10% to 50% off regular prices.
The discounts are valid through Jan. 1, though the program is being continued into 1992-93. The booklets have to be obtained outside of Hong Kong. In Los Angeles, they can be picked up through the Hong Kong Tourist Assn. office or from travel agents.
Among the sightseeing offers are discounts on tours of Hong Kong Island, the New Territories on the Chinese mainland, and harbor cruises on Chinese junks.
If you stay in Hong Kong for an extended period, it may be worth purchasing a special “Tourist Ticket” on the Mass Transit Rail system. It costs about $3.20. The discount booklet offers 5% off on this ticket.
Contact travel agents or the Hong Kong Tourist Assn., 10940 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 1220, Los Angeles 90024, (213) 208-4582.
