A 32-year-old Los Angeles area man was killed early Sunday when he apparently fell asleep while driving north on Interstate 805 near Sweetwater Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Jesus Avila Tinoco of Westminster was driving his truck about 6:20 a.m. when the truck veered to the right of the road and struck a guard rail, authorities said.
Tinoco was taken to UC San Diego Medical Center, where he died in the operating room about 10 a.m., authorities said.
