Auburn Coach Pat Dye refused to let reporters question his team about allegations of illegal payments to former players and vowed that the controversy will not lead him to quit.

“I ain’t going to be quitting,” he said Tuesday.

Because of his dissatisfaction with the media, Dye said he would not allow reporters to question his team about anything involving allegations made by former player Eric Ramsey.

Ramsey’s attorney already has released tape-recorded conversations that purportedly show the former player received payoffs and performance bonuses from an Auburn alumnus, Bill Frost of Lilburn, Ga. Ramsey claims to have more tapes to back up his allegations that coaches were involved in major violations of NCAA rules.

Meanwhile, an attorney for Frost released a statement in which Frost did not deny any of the allegations made by Ramsey. The statement also said Frost “in no way acted as a representative of Auburn University or any member of the athletic department.”
