Perris Has to Go Seven Overtimes to Finally Beat Palm Springs, 70-62
Perris High defeated Palm Springs, 70-62, in seven overtimes in an Ivy League game at Palm Springs Friday night. The game was tied, 28-28, at the end of regulation.
In the overtime session, the team gets the ball on the opponent’s 10-yard line and gets four downs to score. If both teams score, they keep playing.
The seven overtimes ties for second with three others on the national list. The record of eight overtimes was set in 1977 when Detroit Northeastern defeated Detroit Southeastern, 42-36. There is no listed Southern Section record.
Perris improved to 5-2 and 3-1 in league play. Palm Springs is 4-3 and 2-2.
