Cruise Devotee
Lest Donald J. Sinex’s Sept. 22 letter panning cruising influence anyone who has not yet treated themselves to this ultimate in a relaxed, do-whatever-you-desire vacation, I want to say first, after three cruises, that we have yet to have a “putrid” cabin.
Even the smallest was fresh and was kept spotless by our steward, whose hand was never extended for anything, except to serve. The size of your cabin is directly tied to what you pay and there is surely an added joy in an outside cabin with a picture window.
We have always been served with care and efficiency beyond what a guest could expect. As a result, we have always tipped because we wished to and not once has anyone extended a hand until the envelope was offered. Imagine the phrase “shooing away pesky photographers” changed to “no thank you”--the image of the Ugly American vanishes immediately. For shame!
