Azusa : Reservoir Cleanup Allowed
A Los Angeles County Superior Court judge on Monday denied a request by city officials who had sought to stop a project that was cleaning debris and mud from the Morris Reservoir in the San Gabriel Mountains.
Judge William Huss rejected an Azusa City Council request for an injunction against the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works. The county last summer began an experimental project to sluice silt that had collected on the reservoir bottom for more than five decades.
County officials said the reservoir is now being refilled. In addition, they said, the mud and debris that has washed downstream from Morris will be cleaned from the San Gabriel River beginning in December.
