Diamond Bar : 2 Proposals Struck Down
The General Plan Advisory Committee on Thursday struck two consultant’s proposals from the draft general plan after concluding that they conflicted with the committee’s goals.
Both proposals, widening Grand Avenue and building Tonner Canyon Road, had been inserted by the plan consultant to help relieve traffic congestion caused by outside commuters.
The committee found that Tonner Canyon Road, rather than relieving congestion, would draw more traffic into Diamond Bar from the rapidly developing Chino Hills and would also destroy the canyon’s ecology.
The expansion of Grand Avenue from two lanes to three in each direction would primarily serve to relieve freeway traffic, the committee said.
The committee’s review of the plan will resume Nov. 7 and 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the Best Western Hotel of Diamond Bar on Gentle Springs Lane.
