Time Off for Twins for Amanda Pays
Amanda Pays, who stars opposite Peter Coyote in the thriller “Exposure,” is quite literally taking a pregnant pause from her acting career. She and hubby, “L.A. Law’s” Corbin Bernsen, are expecting fraternal twins in late March.
The former British model discovered she was carrying bundles of joy six weeks into her pregnancy. “They can tell very early now with ultrasound,” she says.
Neither Pays nor Bernsen have a history of multiple births in their families. The couple already have one son, 30-month-old Oliver. “I am starting a whole new line of twins,” Pays quips.
Pays, who starred in two short-lived TV series, “Max Headroom” and “The Flash,” plans to return to work after she delivers the twins, but insists she has her series days behind her. “What I am interested in is features,” she says. “With young babies, I don’t want to work every day.”
She would love one of those features to be with Bernsen. The two starred together earlier this year in the TNT thriller, “Dead on the Money.” “That was fun,” she says of the experience. “But when you work together, we realized it has to be something that you both love.”
Pays admits she had never seen Bernsen play the caddish Arnie Becker on “L.A. Law” when they began dating over three years ago. But a lot of her friends had.
“A friend said, ‘Oh, Amanda. No. Don’t go near that one.’ She had seen him only as Arnie Becker. But he is the antithesis of Arnie. He is fabulous and a warm, family-loving man.”
