Trick-or-Treater Is Killed; Alleged Drunk Driver Arrested
A 5-year-old boy out trick-or-treating on Halloween night was struck and killed by an alleged drunk driver who was later booked on manslaughter charges, traffic officers said Friday.
“He was wearing a ‘devil’s type’ costume and apparently it blew away and he ran back across Venice (Boulevard) to retrieve it when this lady hit him and knocked him 150 feet,” said LAPD Lt. Dave Gunning. “He was crossing the street with his mother and some other people” on Venice in the Palms area, Gunning said.
The boy was identified as Abraham Lopez.
Gunning said the driver, Loma Lee Huseman, 56, of Santa Monica was booked for investigation of vehicular manslaughter and felony drunk driving.
