Police Stamp Out Mail Theft Attempt
LOS ALAMITOS — Residents in the Rossmoor area who did not receive mail Friday are advised by police to be patient.
Police received a call at 2:40 p.m. Friday reporting that three men were breaking into a U.S. Postal Service truck in the 4300 block of Howard Street. The men were seen loading mail into a silver Nissan, Sgt. James Jessen said.
Officers spotted the suspects soon afterward in an alley, Jessen said. They also found the Nissan, with about 400 pieces of mail, all destined for Martha Ann Drive, Jessen said. The mail included some Social Security and Orange County payroll checks.
The recovered mail will be reprocessed and delivered by Monday, Jessen said.
Arrested on charges of theft of U.S. mail and put in Orange County Jail were Pedro P. Sanchez, 22, Ernesto H. Gonzalez, 20, and Javier C. Mendoza, 20, all of Los Angeles.
