Rio Mesa 36, Dos Pueblos 16--Senior tailback Gordy Abellera rushed for three touchdowns to lead Rio Mesa to the easy victory. Abellera led the Spartans with 174 yards in 26 carries, including touchdown runs of 13, four and two yards. Rio Mesa’s Andy Contreras completed 10 of 14 passes for 130 yards and had touchdown passes of four and 10 yards to Swanson Nunnery.
Charger tailback Eric Gonzalez rushed for 133 yards in 20 carries and scored on a six-yard run.
Rio Mesa intercepted four passes with Contreras, a safety on defense, accounting for two.
