* 1/2 Diana Ross, “The Force Behind the Power,” Motown. Throw this album away, with the exception of “When You Tell Me That You Love Me,” a gorgeously gushy ballad that’s perfect for Ross’ theatrical delivery. Peter Asher had a hand in producing this track, on which Ross manages to appear unpretentious and guilelessly sweet. Composers Terry Britten and Graham Lyle contribute “Change of Heart,” which though not on the level of “What’s Love Got to Do With It,” their comeback smash for Tina Turner, still fits Ross fairly nicely.
New albums are rated on a scale of one star (poor) to four (excellent).
