Pay Raises for County Officials

Editor’s note: Because of an overwhelming response opposing the pay raise, the supervisors say they will rescind the raise they approved last week at this Tuesday’s session. Here is some of the reaction to the raise received from readers.

The county supervisors’ approval of a 4% pay raise for most county employees is an insult to all other workers in Orange County.

I am sure the county employees will enjoy their higher standard of living, but what about the rest of us? What about the thousands of private sector workers who aren’t going to get a raise? What about the thousands of state of California workers who aren’t going to get a raise? What about the thousands of teachers who aren’t going to get a raise? What about me? I am not going to get a raise either.
