Shabby and Overpriced
We recently stayed at the Oak Bay Beach Hotel in Victoria, B.C., because your newspaper recommended this establishment (“Everything But the Queen,” June 17, 1990). We felt the room was shabby and overpriced ($168). We are uncertain exactly where the rooms were that were described in your article, but we clearly had one of the worst rooms in the house for nearly the highest rate.
We also stayed at Abigail’s, based on the same article, and were extremely pleased. For the same price as the Oak Bay Beach Hotel, we had a beautiful room with a Jacuzzi bath, a fireplace and a great breakfast. Perhaps you should re-evaluate your recommendation.
