PLANNING COMMISSION: The Los Angeles County Regional Planning Commission on Wednesday will consider a proposal by Newhall Land and Farming Co. to build a housing development on an ecologically significant savanna in the Santa Clarita Valley.

VENTURA FREEWAY: The Los Angeles County Transportation Commission will hold two hearings on a plan to construct a rail line 20 feet above the Ventura Freeway. The first hearing will be held Tuesday at Canoga Park High School, the second Thursday at Walter Reed Junior High School. Both hearings will be held from 4:30 to 9 p.m.
