Edison Chief Will Chair Commission on Colleges
Southern California Edison President Michael R. Peevey will chair a newly formed commission that will develop recommendations to meet the needs of the state’s community colleges, it was announced Friday.
“With more than 80% of the state’s minority students enrolled in community colleges, it has become clear that we need to employ new approaches to accommodate increasing enrollment demand, changing demographics and funding limitations,” said Peevey, who lives in La Canada Flintridge.
The Board of Governors and the chancellor of the California Community Colleges system established the Commission on Innovation to address long-range challenges facing the state’s 107 community colleges.
