5 Wounded by Gunfire in Drive-By
Five people were wounded, one critically, Tuesday evening when several gunmen fired on a group of men in front of a Southwest Los Angeles home, authorities said.
Los Angeles police said the drive-by shooting appeared to be gang-related.
Lt. Mike Downing said “numerous” shots were fired at people standing in front of a two-story stucco home in the 4800 block of South Arlington Avenue. Downing said the gunmen sped away after the incident occurred at about 7:05 p.m.
One of the shooting victims, who was not identified, was in critical conditional at Martin Luther King Jr. / Drew Medical Center with multiple gunshot wounds, officials said.
The other four victims, unidentified men described as being in their 20s and 30s, suffered superficial wounds, Downing said.
A 10-year-old girl said she had been playing outside near the scene of the shooting. “I just heard the shots--boom, boom, boom, boom, boom--and then I ran inside,” she said.
