COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Loyola Romps Past Northridge in Volleyball
Loyola Marymount defeated Cal State Northridge, 15-13, 13-15, 15-13, 15-7, in a women’s nonconference volleyball match Tuesday at Matador Gym.
Nancy Nicholls had 13 kills and 19 digs to lead Northridge (13-15), which hit just .118 as a team. Dawn Krenik also had 13 kills but made 12 errors. Missy Clements had 11 kills and six errors for Northridge.
Joli Eberhart had 17 kills and 26 digs to lead Loyola Marymount (17-12).
In other women’s volleyball matches:
Pierce d. Cuesta, 15-7, 11-15, 15-13, 15-1--Stephanie Burns had 14 kills and 19 digs to lead Pierce over visiting Cuesta in its final regular-season Western State Conference match.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
Edwards Air Force Base 107, Antelope Valley 104--Darren Jackson (31 points and 14 rebounds) and Chris Walters (23 points) made impressive debuts for Antelope Valley, but the Marauders could not overcome a 61-43 halftime deficit in their nonconference opener at home.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Pierce 74, Citrus 42--Mireya Coronado scored 19 points and had seven assists to lead Pierce (1-1) in a nonconference game at home.
Valley 76, Mt. San Antonio 64--Katina Mines, a preseason All-State selection, scored a team-high 15 points to lead Valley (1-0) in a nonconference game at home.
