WEEKEND TV : Cuomo to Be on Brinkley’s ‘This Week’
Will he or won’t he? Democratic heavyweight Gov. Mario Cuomo of New York is sure to face questions about whether he will jump into his party’s race for the presidential nomination when he appears Sunday on “This Week With David Brinkley” at 11:30 a.m. (7)(3),11 a.m. (42), 10:30 a.m. (10).
Presidential campaigning will also be paramount as former California Gov. Jerry Brown is interviewed by Ruth Ashton Taylor Sunday at 11 a.m. on Channel 2’s “Newsmakers.”
Meanwhile, as part of the Disney Channel’s free preview week, cable subscribers can watch “The American Teacher Awards” Sunday at 7 p.m. The program will pay tribute to 36 outstanding teachers from around the country and will honor one of them as “teacher of the year.” Celebrity presenters of the awards include Arnold Schwarzenegger, Whoopi Goldberg, Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson.
NBC (4)(36)(39) tries to inject some ratings vigor into its weak Sunday-night lineup with back-to-back episodes of “The Torkelsons” beginning at 7 and the new music show, “Hot Country Nights” at 8.
