SOUTHERN SECTION FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS : Edison, Mater Dei to Play Second Round in County

Edison and Mater Dei will play host to second-round games Friday night in the Southern Section Division I high school football playoffs.

Edison (7-4) will play third-seeded Loyola (9-2) at Orange Coast College. Mater Dei (10-1) will play second-seeded Fontana (10-1) at Santa Ana Stadium. Both games are scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.

In Division II play, Dana Hills (7-1-3) won a coin toss and will play host to Glendale (10-1) at Dana Hills High. Irvine (9-2) also won a coin toss and will play host to Ventura (9-2).

Second-round pairings:

Division I--Loyola (9-2) vs. Edison (7-4) at Orange Coast College; Fontana (10-1) vs. Mater Dei (10-1) at Santa Ana Stadium.

Division II--Ventura (9-2) at Irvine (9-2); Glendale (10-1) at Dana Hills (7-1-3).

Division III--Esperanza (11-0) vs. Villa Park (8-3), TBA; Schurr (9-2) vs. Loara (7-4) at Glover Stadium; Hawthorne (9-2) vs. Los Alamitos (9-2) at Gahr High.

Division V--Palm Desert (7-4) vs. Santa Margarita (7-3-1) at Saddleback College.

Division VI--Valencia (11-0) at Newport Harbor (7-4); Woodbridge (7-2-1) vs. Rancho Alamitos (9-1-1) at Bolsa Grande High; Bassett (7-4) at Tustin (10-1); Savanna (7-3-1) at University (6-5), TBA.

Division VII--Temple City (8-3) vs. Laguna Hills (7-3-1) at Mission Viejo High; Trabuco Hills (6-4-1) at Arroyo Grande (8-2).

Division IX--Tehachapi (8-3) vs. Whittier Christian (9-2) at Whittier College.

Division X--Trona (10-1) vs. Calvary Chapel (9-1) at Westminster High; Southern California Christian (9-2) vs. Maranatha (5-5) at San Marino High.
