Com Systems Reports $525,000 Profit for Quarter
Com Systems Inc., a Westlake Village long-distance telecommunications company reported its profit surged to $525,000 in the third quarter that ended Sept. 30 from a $15,000 profit a year earlier. Its revenue for the quarter slipped 3% to $34 million from $35.1 million.
The company attributed its profit growth to a shift to more competitive products.
In its latest nine-month period, Com Systems earned $2.08 million, and its revenue edged up 1% to $99.6 million. A year before, the company lost $1.51 million on $98.4 million in revenue.
Separately, Resurgens Communications Corp., an Atlanta-based long distance telephone company, said it completed its $30.75 million acquisition of a controlling interest in Com Systems from a unit of the Swiss concern Omni Holding AG. Resurgens said the purchase clears the way for its previously announced merger with Com Systems.
