JUNIOR COLLEGES FOOTBALL BOWLS : 2nd Place Is All It Takes
Second place was good enough for Moorpark, Pierce and Antelope Valley colleges, all of which received Dec. 7 football bowl bids on Monday.
Moorpark and Pierce, runners-up in their divisions of the Western State Conference, will meet in the WSC’s football bowl game at Moorpark’s Griffin Stadium.
Moorpark (8-2), which will be making a bowl game appearance for the fourth consecutive season, placed second behind Santa Barbara in the Northern Division of the WSC. Pierce (7-2-1) finished half a game behind Santa Monica in the Southern Division.
The last postseason meeting between the teams took place in 1985 when Pierce defeated Moorpark, 27-14, in the Brahma Bowl.
Tickets for the 7 p.m. game go on sale Wednesday and are available at both schools.
Antelope Valley (8-2), which placed second behind San Bernardino Valley in the Foothill Conference, will play host to Los Angeles Southwest (7-2-1) in the Southern California Bowl at 12:30 p.m.
