Sharks Beat Canucks, End Winless Streak
DALY CITY, Calif. — Rookies Jayson More, Jeff Odgers and Mike Sullivan scored second-period goals Tuesday night and the San Jose Sharks ended a six-game winless streak by beating the Vancouver Canucks, 4-1.
The three consecutive goals enabled the Sharks to beat the Canucks for the first time in four meetings despite being outshot, 43-34. The Canucks lost for the third time in four games.
Brian Mullen also scored for San Jose, which had gone 0-5-1 in its previous six games.
San Jose goalie Jeff Hackett won for the first time in 11 decisions despite being forced out of the game with a slight concussion suffered with 5:27 left in the second period. Hackett hit his head on the crossbar after taking a crosscheck from Vancouver’s Sergio Momesso, and was replaced by Arturs Irbe.
