COLLEGE FOOTBALL : DAILY REPORT : TODAY’S GAMES : Penn State, Aggies Face Archrivals
The Thanksgiving Day serving of college football is fairly tasty, with bowl-bound teams Penn State and Texas A&M; each facing opponents that can’t be easily dismissed.
For the Nittany Lions of Coach Joe Paterno, the opponent is archrival Pittsburgh, which has a 6-4 record and some extra incentive for today’s game at Pitt.
Penn State, ranked No. 6 in the country, will end the series once it moves into the Big Ten in 1993.
For the Aggies of Texas A&M;, the opponent is their archrival, Texas, which has a 5-5 record and a defense that ranks no. 4 nationally.
The Aggies clinched the Southwest Conference title last Saturday.
On New Year’s Day, Penn State (9-2) will face Tennessee in the Fiesta Bowl and Texas A&M; will take on Florida State in the Cotton Bowl.
