NEWPORT BEACH : Educator Elected to Head School Board
Longtime educator Forrest Werner has taken the helm of the Board of Trustees of Newport-Mesa Unified School District, replacing outgoing president Sherry Loofbourrow.
Werner, 62, is a counselor at Pacifica High School in Garden Grove and has served on the board for the past decade. He was unanimously approved for the post by the board at a recent meeting.
The post is a one-year term during which the president chairs the twice-monthly school board meetings.
Loofbourrow will remain as a board member.
Supt. John W. Nicoll was also reappointed to the post of board secretary at the meeting earlier this month.
