City of Industry : Youth Athletic Banquet
Los Angeles County Sheriff Sherman Block and more than 1,000 children and parents are expected to attend the Youth Athletic League awards banquet tonight sponsored by the City of Industry sheriff’s station.
The potluck banquet, at 6 p.m. in Bassett Park, recognizes winning teams in the flag football league, which includes more than 650 youths ages 8 to 18.
The league is part of a free sports program undertaken by the sheriff’s station to provide an alternative to gang membership. Four other sheriff’s stations provide similar activities in the county.
