TV Stars’ Ex-Housekeeper Gets 5 Years’ Probation
The former housekeeper for husband-and-wife television stars Delta Burke and Gerald McRaney was sentenced to five years’ probation in Pasadena on Monday for stealing thousands of dollars from the couple.
Pasadena Superior Court Judge Jack Tso also ordered Paulette Ava Broughton to pay $12,581 in restitution and serve 250 hours of community service on a freeway cleanup detail. Broughton, 45, pleaded no contest to felony grand theft on Dec. 3. According to prosecutors, she embezzled about $12,000 from household accounts during her eight-month employment at the Burke-McRaney home.
Broughton’s attorney, however, argued that the couple gave his client permission to reimburse herself for a wide range of expenses, and didn’t pay her for $12,000 worth of overtime.
