Chagall Works Donated
Three Marc Chagall lithographs have been donated to Rachel’s Women’s Center and will be displayed in the facility’s overnight center on 8th Avenue, San Diego City Councilman Ron Roberts announced Tuesday.
The lithographs, “Summer Night,” “Grey Double Face” and “King David With His Lyre,” are part of the collection of Michael F. Smith, a vice president for John Burnham & Co. They are valued at $20,000.
The gift is part of an effort by Roberts to have artwork donated to the center.
Rachel’s has operated a day center for eight years, providing showers, laundry and food to an average of 80 women each day. Its 50-bed overnight center opened in August.
