NICK O’ TIME: Orangewood Children’s Foundation director William G. Steiner says it was looking like a sorry Christmas for more than 120 children at the county home until recent publicity about meager contributions changed things. . . . “In the last five days, we’ve had more than a thousand gifts and $12,000 in cash come in,” Steiner says. “It shows that this country really does care about its children.” But holidays bring added family strife, which means that all 166 beds at Orangewood will probably be filled.
