Parcells Says No to Green Bay Job
Bill Parcells says he’s not ready to coach football, so the Green Bay Packers must look elsewhere to fill their coaching vacancy.
Packer General Manager Ron Wolf said he spoke with Parcells last Wednesday after Parcells turned down a five-year, $6.5-million offer from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to leave NBC-TV and return to coaching.
“They never offered me a job,” Parcells said on NBC television Saturday. “We did have some discussions. I’ve known Ron Wolf for 20 years. It would be right that I would talk to him. But it never got any further than that.”
Wolf has interviewed San Francisco offensive coordinator Mike Holmgren and Raider offensive coordinator Terry Robiskie for the job.
