Long Beach : Mayor Creates Task Force to Study Economic Growth
Mayor Ernie Kell announced this week that he is forming a task force to study ways of promoting Long Beach’s economic growth.
“This task force will use some of the best minds in our community to undertake an in-depth study of our city’s strengths and weaknesses in helping our local businesses grow, and in attracting new business to our community,” Kell said in his State of the City address Tuesday, when he announced his plans to form the group with Vice Mayor Jeffrey A. Kellogg.
“It is my belief that, given the current and prospective state of the economy, we need to once again rechart our course for economic development,” Kell said. “Our retail and other businesses in Long Beach need help, and we need more job opportunities for our citizens.”
Kell said he and Kellogg will announce their nominees for an Economic Development Task Force within the next month. He added that he would like the group to take no more than three months to make its recommendations.
