Santa Clarita Offers Trees to Homeowners
In an effort to beautify the city, Santa Clarita is giving away trees to local homeowners willing to water and fertilize them.
The trees have to be planted within about 12 feet of the curb, said Jeff Kolin, Santa Clarita’s deputy city manager in charge of recreation and parks. The trees will be planted and pruned by city crews.
Residents have their choice of dozens of varieties of trees, including pepper, pear and eucalyptus.
Last year, the city gave away about 200 trees at a cost of about $60 each, Kolin said.
