Japan’s Yumi Kokamo made a sensational marathon debut, winning the Osaka, Japan, women’s marathon in a national fastest time of 2 hours 26 minutes 26 seconds.
Japan’s Akemi Matsuno, also in her first marathon, finished second in 2:27:02, followed by defending champion Katrin Dorre of Germany in 2:27:34.
