OXNARD : Slaying Victim’s Car Found by Deputies
Ventura County sheriff’s deputies located the car belonging to an Oxnard slaying victim Monday, several miles from the celery field where her body was found, authorities said.
“It wasn’t within walking distance,” Lt. Joe Harwell said.
An autopsy of Genovena Gonzalez, 30, found no trauma that would indicate that she had been sexually assaulted, but investigators are still awaiting further test results, Harwell said.
Harwell said there are no suspects in the case at this time, but sheriff’s deputies are tracking leads relating to an appointment Gonzalez had Saturday, when she was last seen.
Gonzalez was found Sunday morning in a five-foot-deep ditch in Oxnard on Arnold Road near Hueneme Road, a day after her family told Oxnard police that she was missing. She had four children, ages 9, 8, 7 and 1, who lived with her and her mother, Harwell said.
Gonzalez, a single mother, died from multiple gunshot wounds to the head, one in the upper forehead and several to the side of her head, Harwell said.
