Problem of Illegal Aliens

Re your editorial calling the proposals of Rep. Elton Gallegly “mean-spirited”:

“Mean-spirited” is a horse with many riders. It could even be said that The Times pro-immigration stand is mean-spirited in that continuing down our present path hurts U.S. citizens. Remember them? You should because just recently you saw 5,000 of them turn out for 250 jobs at a Target store. How about some compassion for our very own families caught in a deepening depression?
