WESTMINSTER : Council Adopts Ordinance for Pets
The City Council has enacted an ordinance requiring dog owners to keep their pets on a short leash and clean up after them when on public property.
Under the new rules passed by the council Tuesday night, dog owners must immediately remove and dispose of animal waste deposited on public property or on private property without the owner’s consent. Blind persons accompanied by guide dogs are exempt.
The ordinance also bans dogs from public school property unless the person accompanying it can prove, in writing, that the animal is permitted by school authorities.
