THE X-RATED VIDEOTAPE GUIDE II <i> by Robert H. Rimmer (Prometheus: $17.95, illustrated).</i>

Readers with an off-the-wall sense of humor might want to sneak a peek at Rimmer’s attempt to compile an “adult films equivalent to Leonard Maltin’s video guides” for a quick, sophomoric snigger. Not surprisingly, the writing is abysmal (trying to describe hundreds of virtually identical porno tapes would tax any writer’s skill), but the titles of the films, including “The Big Thrill,” “Caddy Shack-Up,” “The Days of Our Wives,” “Rambo-Ooh Part II, the Sex Platoon” and “Cat on a Hot Sin Roof” suggest whoever names skinflicks is cleverer than the screenwriters and performers--or Rimmer.
