Paules Appointed to City Administrator Post
P. Michael Paules, an assistant city manager in Alhambra, has been appointed city administrator in San Gabriel. He replaces Robert Clute, who is retiring after 18 years of running City Hall.
Paules, who will begin his new position March 16, said the appointment last week of Alhambra City Manager Kevin Murphy as Newport Beach’s new manager was not related to his departure. He will receive an annual salary of $87,000 in San Gabriel; he makes $75,000 in Alhambra.
Paules, 35, holds a master’s degree in public administration from USC and a bachelor’s degree from Cal State Fullerton. He began working for Alhambra in 1981, and has served as director of the city’s community development department since 1987. Last fall, he was one of three finalists for city manager in Monrovia.
