OXNARD : Plisky Will Not Seek 37th Assembly Seat
Oxnard Councilman Michael A. Plisky announced Monday that he will not run for state office in the 37th Assembly District.
Plisky had considered running for the Assembly seat being vacated by Tom McClintock (R-Thousand Oaks), but decided instead to remain active in city politics.
“There are still many problems facing Oxnard that cannot go unattended, including continuing financial and budget problems, serious planning issues, public safety matters, and various other items impacting our quality of life,” Plisky said in a statement.
Plisky, whose council term expires in 1994, said he is considering running for mayor in the upcoming November election.
Oxnard Mayor Nao Takasugi has said he will not seek reelection, deciding instead to enter the 37th Assembly District race.
