San Diego : Man Dies After Shooting at Park
A 23-year-old man, who was shot Thursday night at a basketball court in San Diego, died less than an hour later at UC San Diego Medical Center, police said.
San Diego police discovered Mauricio Torres about 9:30 p.m. with a gunshot wound to his left shoulder at the City Heights Community Park and Recreation Center, police and coroner’s officials said. Torres was lying on the east side of a basketball court in the 4400 block of Landis Street.
He was transported to UCSD Medical Center where he later died, police spokesman Bill Robinson said. No arrests have been made.
Witnesses told police they heard a noise that sounded like backfire, and then saw two men flee from the scene, Robinson said.
