Nation IN BRIEF : NORTH CAROLINA : Chicken Processors Charged in Fatal Fire

Three officials of the Hamlet, N.C., chicken processing plant where fire killed 25 people and injured 56 last Sept. 3 were indicted on involuntary manslaughter charges. Federal inspectors have said the Imperial Food Products Inc. plant had no fire alarm or sprinklers, its exits were unmarked and doors were locked. Imperial Food owner Emmett J. Roe, his son, Brad M. Roe, and plant manager James N. Hair were indicted.
